Amendment 2: Right to Bear Arms

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Having a defense of any sort should always be at the forefront of any developing nations agenda, but as a right to bear arms this not only speaks for the safety of us as a nation, but for the safety of us as individuals. The right to bear arms means that you can own guns, weapons, for your own safety or for hunting, whatever the reason may be. This amendment secures you that right. With how drastically the world has changed since the inception this has constantly been a topic of discussion as weapons are being used in ways we never had to deal with previously. This amendment is being pushed to change just for the safety of our public, but is being pushed back by citizens defending their right to own their "arms".

This video analyzes the debates surrounding this amendment. This stemming from the second comma, that separates the amendment into two parts. One being that of a well regulated militia, and the other being the right of the people to bear arms. This is the fundamental divide on the issue that a militia is needed, and so is a right to own your weapons. It goes on further to explain the grammatical issues may be worth overlooking, but that does not make the issue any easier. Since the amendment has stood, it has created a deeply divided nation that wants both the regulation on arms as well as complete freedom. We are still looking to find the middle ground, or if the amendment will change at all.

Here during the presidential debate we have the issue addressed by two different views on our second amendment. Hillary does support the amendment but also has many reforms to go alongside regarding regulating guns and other arms. Trump holds the same support for the amendment, yet without the harsh regulations. This video embodies how the majority of our nation is split and how hard it is to come to a conclusion for protecting things like school shootings, toddlers from guns, and may other specific cases where regulation may prevent that from being as accessible. The NRA and other institutions have strong cases for defending the amendment we have defended so long already as it would be the belief that their freedom is being infringed on by our government.
